Visitando la Bahía de Halong, Vietnam

A natural wonder of the world and one of the five World Heritage of UNESCO in Vietnam, the magnificent Halong Bay lies 160 km east of Hanoi. More than three thousand irregular limestone islands emerge from the emerald waters of Halong Bay. While some islands are not more than large rocks others are much more important and contain large caves filled with stalactites and stalagmites.

Most of the islands are clothed in thick green vegetation and the sound of birdsong in the early morning. Withdrawn sandy coves are everywhere and in the summer months, the warm waters of the bay are ideal for swimming. The largest island in Halong, and one of the few that are inhabited, is Cat Ba, which has some beautiful beaches and a national park. The best way to appreciate the charms of Halong Bay is a cruise among the islands in a wooden boat. Fish and seafood can be purchased directly from local fishermen rowing their boats and cooked for a delicious lunch. For an authentic experience cruising in the former Indochina in the emerald waters of the bay is with a unique style on Indochina Sails cruises aboard its 15 wonderfully nostalgic wood cabin cruiser.
